In early November 2026 Meta acquired Conductor, a startup whose platform runs multiple AI coding agents in parallel workspaces. Conductor's cloud service was set to shut down on 20 November 2026.

Cohere and Aleph Alpha sign merger agreement
On 16 September 2026 Cohere and German AI company Aleph Alpha signed a merger agreement, reportedly valuing the combined company at about $20 billion. The deal still needed regulatory approval.
SpaceX acquires xAI
On 2 February 2026 SpaceX acquired xAI in an all-stock deal. A memo to employees put the combined company at $1.25 trillion, and LSEG data showed it to be the largest merger on record. The AI unit was renamed SpaceXAI in July 2026.
Claude Code reaches $1B run-rate; Anthropic acquires Bun
On 3 December 2025 Anthropic said Claude Code had reached $1 billion in run-rate revenue, and agreed to acquire Bun, a JavaScript runtime that had already worked with Anthropic on Claude Code's native installer.
Perplexity offers $34.5 billion for Google Chrome
On 12 August 2025 the AI startup Perplexity made a $34.5 billion all-cash bid to buy Google's Chrome browser, presenting the sale as a remedy for Google's antitrust litigation and pledging to keep Chromium open source.
Perplexity bids to merge with TikTok US
On 18 January 2025, Perplexity submitted a bid to merge with TikTok's US business, proposing a combined entity rather than an acquisition in an attempt to work around ByteDance's refusal to sell, one day before a US ban was due to take effect.
