Peng Zhihui

Overview

Peng Zhihui is a Chinese engineer and technology communicator. He is a co-founder, president and chief technology officer of AgiBot, a robotics company he set up with Deng Taihua, a fellow alumnus of his university.^[1] To a wider online audience he is known as “Zhihui Jun”, the name he uses on Bilibili.^[2]

Education

Peng studied at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, graduating with a bachelor's degree from its School of Life Science and Technology in 2015.^[1] He stayed at the same university for graduate study and received a master's degree from the School of Information and Communication Engineering in 2018.^[1] His training therefore spans two quite different fields: a life-science undergraduate degree followed by a graduate degree in information and communication engineering.

From OPPO to Huawei

After graduating in 2018, Peng joined the AI Lab of OPPO Research Institute as an algorithm engineer.^[1][3] At a phone maker, algorithm work of this kind generally means making on-device features such as imaging or speech behave better within a limited budget of computing power and battery. In 2020 he joined Huawei through its Top Minds programme, working on Ascend AI chips and AI algorithms.^[1] Ascend is Huawei's line of processors built for AI workloads; such chips are designed to carry out the large matrix calculations that neural networks depend on, so working on them sits close to the boundary between hardware and software.

Founding AgiBot

Peng left Huawei in 2022.^[1] First Financial reported that he left Huawei's Shanghai research institute that year in order to start his own company, and that he aimed to keep the robot's target price under 200,000 yuan.^[2] In 2023 he co-founded AgiBot with Deng Taihua, another alumnus of his university.^[1] He is the company's co-founder, president and chief technology officer.^[1][2] Price is one of the variables that decides whether a machine stays a laboratory fixture or reaches ordinary workplaces, because the cost of the whole unit sets which users can afford one at all.

Public profile

First Financial described Peng as a co-founder and CTO of Shanghai AgiBot, and reported that he had 2.51 million followers on Bilibili under the name Zhihui Jun.^[2] A following of that size indicates the reach he has through video, well beyond the readership of technical papers or conference talks — a following accumulated under the same pen name he is publicly known by.

Other roles and recognition

In 2025 Peng was elected chairman of the fourth board of Shangwei New Materials.^[1] A board chair leads the board of directors, the body that oversees a company's management on behalf of its shareholders, so the post is a governance role rather than an operating one. In the same year he and Wang Xingxing were both named AI Persons of the Year.^[1]

Place in the field

Read as a sequence, Peng's career moves through three layers of the AI industry. At OPPO he wrote algorithms that run inside consumer devices; at Huawei he worked on the chips and algorithms underneath those systems; at AgiBot he builds complete machines that have to operate in the physical world. Each step moved him closer to hardware, and each depended on the layer below it. His parallel life as a video creator means that this path has been followed by a large public audience as well as by colleagues in the industry.
