What Lovable is
Lovable is a tool for building software by describing it. A user sets out in ordinary language what an application should do, and Lovable generates a full-stack web app rather than only a static page [2]. The company pitches the product at the share of the population that cannot code, saying it wants to empower the remaining 99% to build production-grade software by talking to AI [6].
"Full-stack" here means the generated result is not just a layout: the app also has the parts that make it work, such as stored data, user accounts and logic that runs on a server. That is the difference the company emphasises when it contrasts its output with a static page [2].
From GPT Engineer to Lovable
The product began as an open-source project called GPT Engineer and was rebranded to Lovable in an announcement published on 3 December 2024 [2]. The company dates its launch to 18 November 2024, a date its own one-year retrospective calls the day it launched [1]. The rebrand arrived together with a first substantial release rather than as a change of name alone.
What it does
The December 2024 release added component-level editing, image drag-and-drop, templates and a Supabase integration for authentication and edge functions [2]. Component-level editing means changing one piece of an interface directly instead of regenerating the whole application from a fresh description; templates give a project a starting point; the Supabase integration connects the generated app to a backend service that handles sign-in and server-side functions, so an app can have accounts and logic that do not run in the browser [2].
On 30 June 2025, Agent Mode entered beta. In that mode the product can search the codebase, read files, inspect logs and network activity, search the web and generate images [3]. Those abilities are aimed at the part of building software that comes after the first draft: instead of only writing new code from a description, the system can look at what a project already contains and at what happens when it runs, then act on what it finds.
Growth
Lovable reported $100M in annual recurring revenue in July 2025 and said four months later that the figure had doubled [1]. By the Series B announcement in December 2025 it reported more than 100,000 new projects a day and 25 million projects created in its first year [4]. By August 2026 the company said users had created more than 60 million projects, and that apps built with Lovable saw over 900 million visits a month [5].
Funding
Lovable raised a $200M Series A at a $1.8B valuation in July 2025, led by Accel [6]. It raised a $330M Series B at a $6.6B valuation on 18 December 2025 [4]. It raised a $400M Series C at a $13.3B valuation on 12 August 2026, led by Menlo Ventures and co-led by the Scaleup Europe Fund managed by EQT [5].
Where it sits
Between the launch date in November 2024 and the Series C in August 2026, Lovable went through three large rounds, with the valuation moving from $1.8B to $6.6B to $13.3B [1][4][5][6]. Over the same period the product widened from generating an app out of a description, plus component editing and backend integration, to an agent mode that reads code, inspects logs and searches the web on its own [2][3].
What the product represents is a particular bargain: the entry ticket to building software becomes the ability to state clearly what you want, while the deliverable is still an application that can be deployed and visited. Lovable states that ambition directly when it says it wants the 99% who cannot code to build production-grade software by talking to AI [6]. The project and revenue figures, the visits to apps built on the platform, and the sequence of funding rounds are the measures the company itself uses to describe how far that has gone [1][4][5].
