What Unitree announced
On 20 October 2025, Unitree announced the H2, which the company called a bionic humanoid robot[2][3]. The clearest break with the company's earlier G1 and H1 is the head: the H2 has a bionic head and face, with facial features the earlier machines did not have[1][3]. A humanoid's head is where cameras and sensors usually sit, so giving it facial features is a decision about how the machine looks to the people around it, separate from the engineering of walking and lifting.
Size, joints and strength
The Securities Times reported that the robot is 180 cm tall, weighs 70 kg and has 31 joints[2]. Unitree's own H2 product page lists a standing size of 1820 x 456 x 218 mm and a weight of about 70 kg with the battery included[1]. The page breaks the 31 joints down as degrees of freedom: 6 per leg, 7 per arm, 3 in the waist and 2 in the head[1]. Degrees of freedom are the independently driven axes a robot has; the more a limb has, the more shapes it can fold into, at the cost of more motors and more control work.
Unitree lists a maximum arm joint torque of 120 N·m and a maximum leg joint torque of 360 N·m[1]. Torque is turning force at a joint: the higher it is, the more a limb can push, lift or recover with before it stalls. The arms are rated for a peak payload of about 15 kg, with a rated payload of 7 kg[1]. The peak figure is what the arm can manage briefly; the rated figure is what it is meant to carry in ordinary use. The structure is built from aviation aluminium, titanium alloy and high-strength engineering plastics[1], a mix that trades weight against stiffness.
Battery and compute
The H2 page lists a 15 Ah, 0.972 kWh battery with a maximum voltage of 75.6 V and about 3 hours of runtime[1]. Amp-hours measure charge while kilowatt-hours measure energy, and this pack holds just under one kilowatt-hour. A runtime figure is always measured under some particular load, so it describes the machine's endurance rather than guaranteeing a working day.
The same page says the robot supports an optional high-compute module such as Thor, with up to 2070 TOPS of compute for deploying embodied models[1]. TOPS stands for trillions of operations per second, a common shorthand for how much arithmetic an AI chip can do. Embodied models are learned control policies that turn sensor readings into movement, and running them on the robot itself requires that arithmetic to be carried on board rather than on a remote server.
Price and versions
Unitree gives a list price of 199,000 yuan for the H2, and notes that a version called H2 EDU is sold through sales rather than at that listed price[1]. Splitting a machine into a listed model and a sales-handled variant is common in robotics, because universities and laboratories typically buy in small numbers with different support arrangements.
What the launch showed
Chinese Securities Network reported that the H2's launch material showed the robot performing ballet, throwing punches and side kicks, and walking a fashion runway[3]. The same report singled out the added facial features and the bionic face as the difference from the earlier G1 and H1[3]. Ballet and a runway walk put weight on balance and smooth whole-body motion; punches and side kicks put weight on moving a limb quickly and forcefully while staying upright.
Where it sits
Put together, the published specification describes a roughly human-sized machine: about 1.8 m tall, around 70 kg, 31 degrees of freedom, arms that lift 15 kg at peak, and roughly three hours per charge[1][2]. Two features stand out for readers following humanoids. One is the face, which changes how the machine reads in public settings. The other is the optional high-compute module, which determines whether learned control policies can run on the robot itself[1]. The list price and the sales-handled education variant show that the H2 is offered as a purchasable product rather than only as a demonstration[1].
