What Unitree Robotics is

Unitree Robotics is a Chinese robot maker headquartered in Binjiang District, Hangzhou. It was established on 26 August 2016, and Wang Xingxing is listed as its legal representative[1]. The company builds two families of legged machines. Quadruped robots — usually called robot dogs — walk on four legs and can carry sensors across ground where wheels have trouble. Humanoid robots are built in a human shape so that they can, in principle, work in factories, warehouses and homes that were designed for people.

Where it came from

Unitree was established on 26 August 2016[1]. The company says it has applied for more than 200 patents in China and abroad, and holds more than 180 granted patents[1]. In legged robotics, patent portfolios usually gather around joint actuators, transmissions and control algorithms, the parts that decide whether a machine can stay upright and whether it can be manufactured at a price someone will pay.

On the financing side, Unitree said it completed a Series B2 round of nearly 1 billion yuan before the 2024 Spring Festival. Investors in that round included Meituan, Jinshi Investment and Source Code Capital[1].

The product line

Unitree released its first general-purpose humanoid, H1, on 15 August 2023[2]. On 13 May 2024 it released the G1 humanoid at a starting price of 99,000 yuan[2]. On the quadruped side, the company released the A2 on 5 August 2025, including a wheeled-leg version; Unitree lists an unladen range of about 20 km and a maximum running speed of 5 m/s for it[4].

Sales and market position

Securities Times reported that Unitree sold 23,700 quadruped robots in 2024, taking a 69.75% global market share, and delivered 1,500 humanoid robots that year[3]. Shanghai Securities News reported that Unitree said about 65% of its 2024 sales came from quadruped robots, 30% from humanoid robots and 5% from components[4]. Quadrupeds therefore remained the main source of revenue even as humanoids grew into a substantial share.

Orders moved in a similar direction. Securities Times reported that Wang Xingxing said Unitree's industrial robot orders grew 220% year on year in 2025, with contract value exceeding 1.2 billion yuan[3]. The same report said Unitree won a 46.05 million yuan share of a 124 million yuan humanoid biped robot procurement by China Mobile in July 2025[3].

Where it sits

Unitree's history runs from four-legged machines to a humanoid line added in 2023, then a humanoid priced under 100,000 yuan in 2024, then a further quadruped release in 2025. Its stated sales mix and the procurement figures reported in 2025 show a company selling both to large institutional buyers and, on the quadruped side, in volumes measured in tens of thousands of units a year.
