Marvell agreed on 2 November 2026 to buy optical chip and networking equipment maker Lumentum in an all-stock deal valued at $115 billion including debt, one of the largest technology acquisitions on record.
On 3 September 2026 Nvidia agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 billion. Hugging Face said it would remain an open platform, and the deal was expected to close in the first half of 2027 pending regulatory approval.
On 20 February 2026, ggml.ai — the founding team of llama.cpp — joined Hugging Face, which is to provide long-term resources while ggml and llama.cpp stay 100% open source and community-run.
On 2 February 2026 SpaceX acquired xAI in an all-stock deal. A memo to employees put the combined company at $1.25 trillion, and LSEG data showed it to be the largest merger on record. The AI unit was renamed SpaceXAI in July 2026.
On 3 December 2025 Anthropic said Claude Code had reached $1 billion in run-rate revenue, and agreed to acquire Bun, a JavaScript runtime that had already worked with Anthropic on Claude Code's native installer.
Salesforce agreed in May 2025 to buy data-management company Informatica for about $8 billion, folding its catalog, integration and governance products into Salesforce's platform for agentic AI. The deal closed on 18 November 2025.
On 21 May 2025 OpenAI announced it was acquiring io, the AI hardware startup founded by designer Jony Ive, in an all-stock deal valuing io at about $6.5 billion and putting Ive in charge of OpenAI's hardware and design work.
AMD closed its purchase of ZT Systems, a New Jersey-based builder of AI and general-purpose computing infrastructure for hyperscale customers, on 31 March 2025, taking on about 1,000 design engineers while planning to sell ZT's US manufacturing business.
On 28 March 2025 Elon Musk announced that his AI company xAI had acquired X Corp., the owner of the X social network, in an all-stock deal that valued X at $33 billion and xAI at $80 billion.
On 8 August 2024 Hugging Face announced it had acquired XetHub, a Seattle startup whose technology lets Git scale to terabyte-sized repositories by chunking and deduplicating data; Hugging Face planned to move the Hub off Git LFS onto a Xet-based backend.
In April 2024 NVIDIA agreed to acquire Run:ai, an Israeli maker of Kubernetes-based GPU orchestration software, reported at about $700 million. The European Commission approved the deal in December and it closed on 30 December 2024, with the software to be open-sourced.

In June 2021 Hyundai Motor Group completed its purchase of a controlling 80 percent stake in Boston Dynamics from SoftBank, in a deal that valued the robot maker at US$1.1 billion.
