ChatGPT ChatGPT is OpenAI's AI chatbot, released as a research preview on 30 November 2022. It grew to hundreds of millions of weekly users and added agents, voice, browsing and workplace tools.
Gemini Deep Research A feature in the Gemini app that plans multi-step web research, gets the user's approval, browses for a few minutes and returns a report with links to its sources; later offered to developers as a managed agent in the Gemini API.
Project Mariner Project Mariner is a Google research prototype of a browser agent, announced with Gemini 2.0 in December 2024. Running as an experimental Chrome extension, it completes web tasks by understanding what is on the screen, and its computer-use capabilities later moved toward Google's developer APIs.
Gemini Spark Gemini Spark is Google's personal AI agent inside the Gemini app, announced at Google I/O on 19 May 2026. It runs around the clock and carries out tasks on the user's behalf, moving from trusted testers to the macOS app and to more than 160 countries.
