Kling 1.5 is a version of Kuaishou's video generation model, unveiled by the company in September 2024 as the latest version of that model. [1] It is a model for producing video, and the release centered on higher-resolution output, stronger motion, closer prompt following, and new controls. [1] Kuaishou CEO Cheng Yixiao said Kling was "setting new industry standards". [1]

Higher-resolution output

Kuaishou said Kling 1.5 outputs 1080p HD video in professional mode. [4] Resolution is one of the most visible properties of a generated clip: a 1080p frame contains more pixels than a lower-resolution frame, so fine detail has more room to show. The company also said the version significantly improves image quality, dynamics and prompt relevance over its predecessor. [4] Image quality concerns how clean and detailed the picture looks; dynamics concerns how motion is rendered; prompt relevance concerns how closely the video matches the user's description. These are separate axes, and Kuaishou presented improvements across all three.

Kuaishou said internal testing showed a 95% performance increase over the previous version. [4] The figure came from the company's internal testing, and it is stated as a comparison with the earlier version rather than as a result from an outside evaluation. The release also raised output to 1080p with better dynamics and semantic responsiveness, and added features such as Motion Brush. [1]

Motion Brush and aspect ratios

Motion Brush lets users define the movement of individual elements in an image. [4] A user can therefore treat different parts of a scene separately: one element can be given a direction or path of movement while other parts of the image remain part of the overall composition. Videos created with Motion Brush can be up to 5 seconds long. [4] That duration makes the feature suited to short, controlled motion rather than to long sequences.

Kling 1.5 supports 16:9, 4:3, 9:16, 3:4 and 1:1 aspect ratios. [4] Aspect ratio is the relationship between a video's width and height. The listed formats cover wide landscape, standard landscape, vertical portrait, narrower portrait and square output, so the same model can produce clips for different frame shapes. This matters because a video intended for a wide screen and one intended for a vertical phone screen need different compositions.

Kuaishou kept pricing unchanged for the new version. [4] The new version therefore arrived at the same pricing as before, according to Kuaishou. [4]

Place in the Kling line

Kling 1.5 did not remain the newest version for long. Kling 1.6 succeeded it in December 2024. [2][3] The sequence is clear from the dates: Kling 1.5 was unveiled in September 2024, and its successor arrived in December 2024. [1][2][3] For users and observers, Kling 1.5 is best understood as a specific step in Kuaishou's video model line, one that concentrated on 1080p output, motion control and prompt alignment before the next version took over.
